Paris / Trip cost
What a trip to Paris costs
Not a price list — prices change too fast for that to be honest. This is how a Paris budget actually breaks down, and what pushes it up or down.
The honest version
Why we do not quote a daily budget for Paris
Any site that states a fixed daily cost for Paris is guessing at your travel style, your season and your hotel taste. So instead of inventing numbers, here is the structure of the spend — and a calculator that works from your estimates, not ours.
Paris budgets turn on the hotel's arrondissement and the big museum tickets; the city itself can be walked and admired cheaply once those are set.
The categories
Where a Paris budget goes
Multi-day tours
The backbone line item if you book a guided tour of Paris: it typically bundles guiding, transport between sights, and often accommodation and some meals into one price, replacing several categories below.
Day activities and tickets
Day tours, attraction tickets and excursions booked separately — the category that grows fastest when you build the trip yourself instead of taking a bundled tour.
Stays
Hotels, riads, guesthouses or resorts, night by night. Location within the destination usually matters as much as standard.
Food
From street food and local restaurants to hotel dining — the widest daily swing in most trips, and the easiest category to steer up or down.
Local transport
Airport transfers, taxis, metros, ferries and internal journeys that are not already inside a tour price.
Up or down
What drives the price of a Paris trip
- Hotel location: central arrondissements price well above the outer districts on the metro's edge.
- Season: late spring and early autumn peak; August and winter soften outside fashion and fair weeks.
- Headline tickets: tower summits and major exhibitions are individually priced and sell out ahead.
- France extensions: adding Loire, Normandy or Provence turns a city trip into a multi-day touring budget.
Run your own numbers
Enter your own per-day estimates into our trip budget calculator and it totals the trip for you — per person and per group, in the currency you choose. Your figures, your trip; nothing is sent anywhere.
When you are ready to see real numbers, they live on the booking sites — the live price for your dates is shown before you pay.
