Paris / Best time to visit
Best time to visit Paris
Season patterns for Paris in plain terms — when the weather cooperates, when crowds and prices peak, and when to think twice.
The seasons
Paris through the year
Peak season
April to June and September to October are Paris at its best: mild weather, cafe terraces out, and every sight open — the classic, and most booked, windows.
Shoulder seasons
March and November are grey and quieter; museums and monuments are far less crowded.
Low season
July and August can be hot, with some neighbourhood businesses closing in August as Parisians leave; deep winter is cold and dark but atmospheric, with the January sales.
Festivals and dates to know
Bastille Day on 14 July brings the military parade and fireworks at the Eiffel Tower, and the Fete de la Musique fills the streets with free music on 21 June.
